Hi, I saw a great quote today. It said : " The 2 greatest days of your life are the day you were born and the day you discovered why you were born. " I think I was born to teach others about Food Intolerances so they can get better like I did.
Hi, last summer (9 months ago) I started experiencing extreme dry mouth. It was unbearable. Needless to say none of my Dr.s had any answers. One-by one I started eliminating things from my diet. I can tell you now the dry mouth had nothing to do with the hydrogen peroxide or Baking Soda I brushed my teeth with. Nothing to do with baby oil i used on skin, fluoride in water down the shore, Canola oil or rice vinegar on salad, or the papaya. In the end, I gave up my Cereal with milk in the morning and my bowl of ice cream every night and my dry mouth started to get better. Was it the BHT in the cereal or the corn syrup in the ice cream or the protein in the milk and ice cream ??????? I,m still not sure, but since I am actually Lactose Intolerant I am better off without it.
About 7 months ago I started with BMS. Burning mouth syndrome. I also had burning lips. I would also get little red sores on top lip and tiny red hives on tip of tongue. Every morning I start out fine and it gets progressively worse as the day goes on. I still have this and I know it was different and unrelated to the dry mouth. I recently read that all the Cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower and brussel sprouts) contain a chemical that affects the mucous membranes. I eat a lot of Cabbage and Brussel Sprouts cause they are low in salicylates. I think the cabbage does give me a burning tongue so I will be eliminating that now and I will let you know how it goes. Take care, Joan Hello, its been awhile. I seem to spend most of my time on other Food Intolerance forums instead of talking on my own blog. Well I,m back. Since I wrote my book 3 years ago I have learned so much more through researching everyday. I have even taught a class called "Food Intolerance and Student Behavior." Since I am an Art Teacher in a Middle School I have personally witnessed behavior and learning problems which I believe are a direct result of food intolerances.
Originally I thought that Salicylates were the biggest culprit but have come to realize that the artificial colors (made from coal tar and petroleum), the preservatives (BHA, BHT, sodium benzoate ) and other additives ( vanillin, msg, sodium nitrate) are just as much to blame. I have come to the realization that wheat and gluten doesnt agree with me. Even though I tested negative to Celiac Disease, many of us are NCGS.(non-celiac-gluten-sensitive.) My constant bloating after eating pasta and bread convinced me to give it up. I feel much better in that respect. They say that gluten intolerance may be the mother of all food intolerances. If you are gluten int. and continue to eat it, it damages the villi in the intestines. If you heal the gut by giving up gluten, your other intolerances may subside a little. ( But they wont disappear completely) |
AuthorHi, I am married, with two boys and a Sheltie. I have been Salicylate Intolerant my whole life but I hit bottom about 3 yrs. ago as I started eating healthier. Since then,I have been reading everything I possibly can about Salicylate Intolerance but feel that a Blog is the best way for each of us to learn and feel connected to others. I welcome your Questions, your answers, your comments and your support. Thanks, Joan Ablahani CategoriesArchives |
