Hi, last summer (9 months ago) I started experiencing extreme dry mouth. It was unbearable. Needless to say none of my Dr.s had any answers. One-by one I started eliminating things from my diet. I can tell you now the dry mouth had nothing to do with the hydrogen peroxide or Baking Soda I brushed my teeth with. Nothing to do with baby oil i used on skin, fluoride in water down the shore, Canola oil or rice vinegar on salad, or the papaya. In the end, I gave up my Cereal with milk in the morning and my bowl of ice cream every night and my dry mouth started to get better. Was it the BHT in the cereal or the corn syrup in the ice cream or the protein in the milk and ice cream ??????? I,m still not sure, but since I am actually Lactose Intolerant I am better off without it.
About 7 months ago I started with BMS. Burning mouth syndrome. I also had burning lips. I would also get little red sores on top lip and tiny red hives on tip of tongue. Every morning I start out fine and it gets progressively worse as the day goes on.
I still have this and I know it was different and unrelated to the dry mouth.
I recently read that all the Cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower and brussel sprouts) contain a chemical that affects the mucous membranes. I eat a lot of Cabbage and Brussel Sprouts cause they are low in salicylates. I think the cabbage does give me a burning tongue so I will be eliminating that now and I will let you know how it goes. Take care, Joan
